At Parque de Asís we had the privilege of learning the story of Mrs. Ana, a 90-year-old woman who has been linked to our pet cemetery for 34 years. It was then that he arrived for the first time to say goodbye and bury his 14-year-old dog, starting a story that, to this day, is still linked to this place.
Since then, Ana visits Parque de Asís as often as possible. A love that he has also managed to transmit to his children, who have built their own bond with the cemetery.
Recalling what the existence of Parque de Asís has meant for her and for so many people who share a love for animals, Ana especially highlights the importance of having a space where to keep that bond alive: “this helped people not to forget what they had”.
With emotion, he also shares what it means to have a place to say goodbye to those who were part of his life: “It's the best thing there could have been, the best, because you love your little animals all your life, and you suffer a lot when they leave.”
Their testimony also reflects how people's relationships with their pets have changed over the years. Ana recognizes that today there is a greater awareness and appreciation for animals, something that stands out from her own experience: “All people are now seeing animals well, many people didn't deserve them before, they didn't help them”, but she points out that today, that has changed.
The story of Ana, who has been linked to Parque de Asís for more than 30 years, is an example of unconditional love for our pets and of those bonds that last even after their departure. Its story reflects precisely what we seek to represent in Parque de Asís: a space where each pet is remembered, honored and valued for the mark it left on the lives of their families. Because we know that the love for them doesn't end when they leave, and we want to accompany each tutor in the task of keeping that memory alive forever.
